Volker Albus (*1949) is a qualified architect and has worked since the early 1980s as a designer (his work is in several collections including the Neue Sammlung Munich, and the Foundation National des Arts Contemporain Paris). He also works as an exhibition maker and an author; his books include Gefühlscollagen – Wohnen von Sinnen, Cologne1986; 13 nach Memphis (with Volker Fischer), Munich 1995; anders als immer, Zeitgenössisches Design und die Macht des Gewohnten, Stuttgart 2005. As an essayist he has contributed to Design Report (1994-2001), Form (since 2003) and has also written for periodicals such as Hochparterrre, Domus etc. Whatever form it takes, for many years his work has made an important contribution to the critical discourse on design. Since 1994 Volker Albus has been Professor of Product Design at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe.
