Gerti Draxler
Design expert, Dorotheum, Vienna (A)
Gerti Draxler (*1951) is an art historian. After completing her studies she worked from 1975 to 1985 for the Neue Galerie at the Landesmuseum Joanneum in Graz, From 1987 to 1995 she was a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and from 1988 to 1995 worked in the art market department of the daily newspaper Der Standard . Since 1996 she has been employed as an expert in the area of design at the Dorotheum auction house. Thanks to Gerti Draxler's commitment the biannual design auctions held there have significantly increased the status of design and design history and have raised the market value of design objects and collections. She constantly sees to it that both historically interesting lots as well as the work of young contemporary designers are included in the auctions.
