August Ruhs (*1946) is psychiatrist and neurologist, psychoanalyst, training analyst in the “Wiener Arbeitskreis für Psychoanalyse.” Vice-chairman of the Vienna University Hospital board for Depth Psychology and Psychotherapy, 1999 bis 2002 board member of the Sigmund Freud Gesellschaft, co-founder of the New Vienna Group/ Lacan School, and co-editor of the magazine texte. psychoanalyse. ästhetik. kulturkritik. Since 2000 he is member of the supervisory board of MAK, Museum of Applied Arts Vienna. His main areas of interest include clinical, theoretical, and applied psychoanalysis under special consideration of structural psychoanalysis (Jacques Lacan a.o.), as well as psychoanalysis and its neighboring disciplines in the humanities; numerous publications in these fields.
