Paola Antonelli (*1963) joined MoMA, New York in 1994 as curator for architecture and design. She began her career as a curator after completing her study of architecture at Milan Polytechnic with master's degree, becoming contributing editor at Domus magazine (1987–91) and design editor at Abitare (1992–94). She has also contributed to several periodicals (among them I.D. magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, and Nest), as well as making television reports on design and architecture (BBC, NPC). Paola Antonelli lectured in design history and theory at the University of California, Los Angeles and currently teaches at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. From Mutant Materials in Contemporary Design (1995) to Safe – Design Takes on Risk (2006) her exhibitions promote an understanding of design and its influence on our lives. In her next exhibition, The State of Design, she will explore the relationship between design and science.
