Herbert Lachmayer
Kunst- und Kulturwissenschaftler, Director Da Ponte Institut, Wien (A)
Herbert Lachmayer (*1948) studied philosophy, sociology and history of art in Vienna, Frankfurt and Berlin. Alongside teaching posts in Berlin, London and Vienna, since 1991 Lachmayer has been professor at Linz University of Art and head of the (former) master class of Experimental Design. In 2000 he founded the Da Ponte Institute for Librettology, Don Juan Research and anthology history, a unique institution in this field. Lachmayer is author of numerous publications and exhibitions. As a curator he most recently was responsible for the official exhibition on the occasion of Mozarts 250. anniversary, Experiment Aufklärung at the Albertina in Vienna, a show that may have been irritating for some tourists, but surely fascinating for cultural historians.
