Patricia Urquiola (*1961) studied architecture in Madrid and Milan. From 1990 to 1996 she worked as an assistant to Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli at the Politecnico in Milan and at ENSCI in Paris. Her relationship to Achille Castiglioni was decisive in shaping her interest in design. From 1990 to 1996 she worked with Vico Magistretti at De Padova; she had a studio with the architects de Renzio and Ramerino from 1993 to 1996 and coordinated the design department at Lissoni and Partners from 1996 to 2000. In 2001 Patricia Urquiola founded her own studio and has designed for companies such as Agape, Alessi, Artelano, B&B, De Padova, Driade, Foscarini, Kartell, and Moroso among others. Her work has received numerous awards. Since 2002 Patricia Urquiola has taught at the Domus Academy in Milan.
